Terms of Service
Effective Date: June 19, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of The Vintage Jewelry Buyer website, your communications with us, your appointment requests, and your participation in any jewelry review or purchase transaction with The Vintage Jewelry Buyer.
Please read these Terms carefully before using this website, requesting an appointment, or selling property to us. By using this website, submitting a form, requesting an appointment, or proceeding with a transaction, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the website, submit an appointment request, or proceed with a transaction.
1. About Our Business
The Vintage Jewelry Buyer is an appointment-only buyer of select vintage jewelry, vintage costume jewelry, vintage sterling silver jewelry, antique jewelry, inherited jewelry, and other items that fit our current buying interests.
We may review individual pieces, smaller groups, large lots, inherited collections, estate collections, dealer inventory, and collections containing hundreds or thousands of pieces.
We purchase selectively. We are not required to make an offer for every item presented to us, and we may decline any item or collection for any lawful reason.
2. Appointment-Only Service
All jewelry reviews are conducted by appointment. Submitting an appointment request does not automatically create or confirm an appointment.
An appointment is confirmed only after The Vintage Jewelry Buyer provides a specific date, time, and location.
You may be invited to bring the property to one of our offices. For certain larger collections, we may consider an appointment at a home, estate, office, storage location, or another appropriate location.
Mobile appointments are offered at our discretion and may depend on the location, collection size, type of property, available information, and scheduling availability.
We may cancel, postpone, shorten, or decline an appointment when reasonably necessary, including when the collection differs substantially from the description provided, the location appears unsafe, ownership is unclear, or legal requirements cannot be satisfied.
3. Photographs Are Helpful but Not Required
Photographs may help us understand the approximate age, style, type, condition, and size of a collection before an appointment. However, photographs are not required to contact us.
We understand that some clients may not know how to take or send photographs. You may contact us and provide a general verbal or written description instead.
Any comments made after reviewing photographs are preliminary opinions only. A photograph may not accurately show condition, size, construction, alterations, damage, missing parts, signatures, or other important details.
We are not required to make an offer based on photographs, and any preliminary statement may be changed after an in-person examination.
4. No Guarantee of an Appointment or Offer
Contacting us, submitting a form, sending photographs, or attending an appointment does not guarantee that we will purchase any property.
We may be interested in one item, selected pieces, part of a collection, or the entire collection. We may also decide that none of the property fits our current buying interests.
We may withdraw or change an offer at any time before it is accepted and the transaction is completed.
Unless otherwise stated in writing, an offer applies only at the time it is made. Changes in condition, available information, market demand, authenticity concerns, quantity, or our current inventory may affect an offer.
5. We Are Acting as a Buyer
The Vintage Jewelry Buyer acts as a potential purchaser of property. We are negotiating for our own business interests and are not acting as the seller’s agent, broker, fiduciary, trustee, financial adviser, estate representative, or legal adviser.
We do not have a duty to obtain the highest possible price for the seller, locate another buyer, place items at auction, compare competing offers, or determine the maximum amount another person might pay.
Our purchase offer represents the amount we are willing to pay based on our own judgment, experience, business needs, anticipated costs, risks, and expected resale potential.
The seller is responsible for deciding whether our offer is acceptable.
6. Evaluations Are Not Formal Appraisals
Our primary purpose is to decide whether we would like to purchase property and, if so, what we are willing to offer.
Unless a separate written agreement specifically states otherwise, our examination, comments, opinions, sorting, and purchase offers are not certified appraisals.
Our statements should not be used as formal appraisals for insurance, taxation, probate, charitable donation, divorce, bankruptcy, estate administration, litigation, lending, or any other legal or financial purpose.
A purchase offer may be lower or higher than an insurance value, replacement value, retail asking price, auction estimate, online listing price, sentimental value, or another person’s opinion.
We do not guarantee the age, maker, designer, material, authenticity, origin, rarity, market value, or future resale price of any item unless that representation is included in a separate written agreement signed by us.
7. Opportunity to Obtain Independent Advice
Before accepting an offer, the seller may seek an independent appraisal, obtain another offer, consult family members, speak with an attorney, or obtain other professional advice.
The seller is responsible for completing any desired research or consultation before accepting payment and completing the transaction.
Choosing not to obtain another opinion, appraisal, or offer is the seller’s voluntary decision and does not create a right to reverse a completed sale later.
8. Seller Eligibility and Capacity
A person selling property to The Vintage Jewelry Buyer must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding transaction.
We may refuse to transact with anyone who appears unable to understand the transaction, lacks legal authority, is acting under pressure from another person, or cannot provide information reasonably necessary to confirm ownership and identity.
We may require valid government-issued identification and other documentation before completing a purchase.
9. Seller’s Ownership and Authority
By presenting or selling property to The Vintage Jewelry Buyer, the seller represents and warrants that:
- The seller is the lawful owner of the property or has clear legal authority to sell it.
- The seller has the right to transfer complete ownership of the property.
- The property is not stolen, lost, borrowed, rented, pledged, pawned, or held for another person.
- The property is not subject to a lien, security interest, consignment agreement, ownership dispute, or other claim.
- The property is not restricted by a trust, will, probate proceeding, divorce order, bankruptcy, court order, or estate-administration requirement.
- Any required consent from a spouse, co-owner, family member, trustee, executor, administrator, beneficiary, business partner, or other interested person has been obtained.
- The seller has not knowingly concealed information that would affect ownership or the legality of the sale.
- The seller is not using the transaction to commit fraud, hide property, avoid a legal obligation, or transfer property unlawfully.
If another person later claims ownership, the seller remains responsible for any false or incomplete statement concerning ownership or authority.
10. Inherited, Estate, Trust, and Family Property
A person presenting inherited or estate property must have legal authority to sell it.
Being a relative, caregiver, beneficiary, resident of the home, or person in possession of the property does not automatically establish authority to sell.
Before the appointment, the person arranging the transaction should resolve any disagreement among family members, heirs, beneficiaries, trustees, executors, administrators, or co-owners.
We may request documents showing authority to sell estate, trust, business, jointly owned, or inherited property.
We may refuse or postpone a transaction when ownership or authority is unclear.
11. Remove Items You Do Not Intend to Sell
Before an appointment, the seller should remove sentimental items, family keepsakes, borrowed items, property belonging to another person, and anything the seller is uncertain about selling.
The seller is responsible for checking boxes, bags, trays, envelopes, containers, and other property before presenting them for sale.
When property is presented and included in an accepted offer, we may reasonably understand that the seller intends to sell that property.
The Vintage Jewelry Buyer is not responsible for family disagreements or claims that an item was included by mistake when the seller had a reasonable opportunity to remove or identify it before completing the transaction.
12. Group and Lot Offers
We may make one combined offer for a tray, box, bag, group, lot, or entire collection rather than assigning a separate amount to each individual item.
A group offer reflects our interest in purchasing the property together. Dividing the group, removing pieces, or changing the quantity may change or cancel the offer.
Unless we provide a written itemized offer, no portion of a group price should be interpreted as a separate valuation for an individual item.
13. Voluntary Acceptance of an Offer
The seller is never required to accept an offer.
Before completing a transaction, the seller may ask which property is included, request clarification, decline the offer, or remove property from consideration before a final agreement is reached.
By accepting an offer, delivering the property, signing any required transaction document, and accepting payment, the seller confirms that:
- The decision to sell is voluntary.
- The seller understands which property is being purchased.
- The seller understands the total payment being offered.
- The seller has had an opportunity to ask questions.
- The seller is satisfied with the agreed payment.
- The seller is not relying on a promise that is not included in writing.
- The seller has completed any research or consultation the seller considers necessary.
- The seller intends to transfer ownership permanently.
14. When a Transaction Is Complete
A purchase transaction is considered complete when the parties agree to the property and price, the seller delivers possession of the property, any required transaction document is signed, and the seller accepts payment.
At that time, ownership transfers to The Vintage Jewelry Buyer, subject to any mandatory legal reporting, holding, investigation, or return requirements.
A scheduled appointment, verbal discussion, preliminary offer, unsigned document, or unaccepted payment does not by itself complete a transaction.
15. Final Sale and Change of Mind
Except when otherwise required by applicable law or agreed to by us in a separate signed writing, completed purchases are final.
After a completed transaction, the seller does not have an automatic right to cancel or reverse the sale merely because:
- The seller later changes their mind.
- A family member disagrees with the decision.
- Another person claims the seller should have requested a higher amount.
- The seller later finds a different buyer or receives another estimate.
- The seller later believes an item may have been worth more.
- The seller did not obtain an independent appraisal before selling.
- The seller later attaches sentimental importance to the property.
- The property is later advertised, repaired, identified, combined, separated, or resold for a different amount.
Once the transaction is completed, The Vintage Jewelry Buyer is not required to return the property, cancel the transaction, repurchase the property from a later owner, disclose a later resale price, or locate property that has been transferred or sold.
Nothing in this section limits a right that cannot legally be waived.
16. Use of Property After Purchase
After ownership has transferred and subject to applicable law, The Vintage Jewelry Buyer may possess, store, document, photograph, research, clean, repair, restore, separate, combine, market, display, resell, transfer, recycle, donate, or otherwise dispose of purchased property.
We are not required to keep a collection together, preserve original boxes or containers, or maintain individual items in the same condition in which they were purchased.
We are not required to inform the former owner about later research, identification, restoration, sale, transfer, or disposal of the property.
17. Payment
The agreed payment will be made at the appointment unless the parties agree otherwise in writing.
The seller is responsible for counting and confirming payment before leaving the appointment or allowing us to leave the appointment location.
Acceptance of payment confirms that the seller has received the agreed purchase price, subject to any written notation made at the time of the transaction.
The seller is responsible for any personal tax, estate, accounting, or reporting obligation arising from the transaction.
18. Identification and Legally Required Records
We may require identification, signatures, property descriptions, photographs, fingerprints or thumbprints, ownership information, transaction records, or other information when required by law or reasonably necessary to document the transaction.
We may report transactions or provide information to law-enforcement agencies, licensing authorities, courts, or government agencies when legally required.
Purchased property may be held, stored, or made available for inspection for any period required by applicable law.
We may refuse to complete a purchase when a seller declines to provide legally required identification or transaction information.
19. Suspected Stolen or Disputed Property
We do not knowingly purchase stolen, lost, unlawfully obtained, or disputed property.
We may stop an appointment, refuse payment, retain information, preserve records, or contact law enforcement when we reasonably suspect theft, fraud, false identification, lack of authority, elder abuse, coercion, or another unlawful act.
Property and records may be handled in accordance with lawful instructions from government or law-enforcement authorities.
20. Seller Responsibility for False Statements
The seller is responsible for losses, expenses, claims, or disputes caused by the seller’s false statements, concealment of material information, lack of ownership, lack of authority, or violation of these Terms.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the seller agrees to reimburse and protect The Vintage Jewelry Buyer from third-party claims arising from the seller’s breach of the ownership and authority representations in these Terms.
This obligation does not apply to losses caused solely by the intentional misconduct of The Vintage Jewelry Buyer.
21. No Promise of Future Value or Resale Result
Jewelry markets, collecting interests, resale demand, online prices, auction results, and business costs can change.
We do not guarantee what an item will later sell for, whether it will sell, how long a sale may take, or whether later research will change its description.
A later resale price does not change the amount voluntarily agreed upon during the original transaction.
The difference between a purchase price and a later selling price may reflect business expenses, time, research, cleaning, restoration, photography, marketing, storage, fees, risk, unsold inventory, returns, and other costs.
22. Website Information
The information on this website is provided for general informational purposes. We try to keep the website accurate, but we do not guarantee that every description, example, service area, appointment time, or other statement will always be complete or current.
Website content does not create a guarantee that we will purchase a particular type of jewelry or pay a particular amount.
Examples of jewelry shown or described on the website are not guarantees that similar items will receive an offer.
23. Website Availability
We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the website, contact forms, email, telephone service, or appointment system.
Messages may be delayed, blocked, misdirected, or not received because of technical problems. If you do not receive a response, you may contact us again through our contact page.

- Interfere with the operation or security of the website.
- Introduce malicious software or automated attacks.

25. Website Content and Intellectual Property
Website text, photographs, graphics, logos, page designs, and original content are owned by or licensed to The Vintage Jewelry Buyer unless otherwise stated.
You may view the website for personal informational use. You may not reproduce, republish, scrape, distribute, modify, or commercially exploit website content without written permission.
26. Third-Party Websites
The website may contain links to outside websites or services. We do not control outside websites and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, products, statements, or privacy practices.
A link does not necessarily mean that we endorse or guarantee the outside business or service.
27. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the website and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
We do not make warranties regarding uninterrupted website access, accuracy of general educational content, suitability for a particular purpose, or the result of submitting an appointment request.
Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot legally be excluded.
28. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Vintage Jewelry Buyer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages arising solely from the use or inability to use this website.
We are not responsible for a seller’s failure to obtain family consent, independent advice, an outside appraisal, another offer, estate authorization, or legal authority before completing a transaction.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or another liability that cannot legally be limited.
29. Separate Purchase Documents
A completed purchase may require the seller to sign a separate purchase receipt, seller acknowledgment, bill of sale, property record, or other transaction document.
These Terms supplement those documents. If a signed transaction document conflicts with these Terms regarding a particular sale, the signed transaction document controls for that sale.
No website page should be interpreted as replacing identification, reporting, recordkeeping, or written-agreement requirements that apply to a particular transaction.
30. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information are also governed by our Privacy Policy.
31. Informal Dispute Resolution
Before filing a lawsuit concerning the website, an appointment, or a transaction, you agree to provide us with a written description of the dispute and a reasonable opportunity to respond.
The notice should include your name, contact information, appointment date if applicable, a description of the property involved, the amount in dispute, and the resolution you are requesting.
This requirement does not prevent either party from seeking urgent relief when necessary or filing a claim before an applicable legal deadline expires.
32. Governing Law and Location of Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
To the extent permitted by law, any court proceeding relating to these Terms, the website, an appointment, or a transaction shall be brought in a state or federal court with jurisdiction in Orange County, California.
Either party may bring an eligible claim in small claims court.
33. Severability
If any portion of these Terms is found invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that portion will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary.
The remaining portions will continue in effect.
34. No Waiver
If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, that does not mean we have permanently waived the provision or our right to enforce it later.
35. Entire Website Agreement
These Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any separate signed transaction documents form the agreement governing the applicable website use, appointment, or transaction.
A verbal statement does not modify these Terms or a signed purchase document unless the modification is confirmed in a writing signed by an authorized representative of The Vintage Jewelry Buyer.
36. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms when our website, services, business practices, or legal obligations change.
The revised Terms will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Changes will not retroactively alter the agreed terms of a completed transaction unless required by law or agreed to in writing.
